About Me

Allison.jpg

Allison has always had a passion for working with children and young people and the privilege of instilling knowledge and hope into peoples’ lives. From her previous career in the educational field teaching English internationally to her involvement with an adoptive children’s attachment group and her previous role in parent coaching through a non-profit organization, Allison is passionate about empowering her clients through gaining helpful new insights, education, support, and encouragement toward their goals.

In her free time, Allison enjoys spending time outside in nature, practicing her photography skills and enjoying a mountain hike with her husband and their energetic puppy.

Background

Allison is a Licensed Professional Counselor in the state of Colorado and is a National Certified Counselor (NCC). She has experience working with children, families, and individuals in a variety of issues such as trauma, attachment, foster care, adoption, stress management, and anxiety. She also provides parent coaching and support for children in the areas of trauma, emotional processing, self-regulation, and behavior management.

Allison has a Bachelors in Family & Human Services from John Brown University and a Masters in Counseling from Denver Seminary. She is trained in Trauma Focused Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT) for children.

Therapy Process

Allison uses a combination of cognitive, attachment-based, and family systems therapy. She believes that it is important to consider both the individual thoughts and feelings that a client is experiencing as well as the role that other significant people have played in the client’s life both past and present. This provides a holistic look into the client’s world and is the framework through which an individual’s identity is shaped and molded.

Allison’s passion for education comes out in her therapeutic process as she shares valuable information about skills and resources to support her clients. Her approach to therapy includes building rapport in a comfortable setting where she can assist her clients in working through their current situation to bring healing and start living out the changes they wish to make in their lives. In her work with children, she often incorporates games and activities to promote healing and growth in an environment that is fun and engaging as well.
